Programs, Honors & Appointments
On June 6 the firm, in conjunction with McGraw-Hill Construction, hosted a seminar entitled, "Key Insurance Strategies for New Jersey: Managing Risk in Construction." Members of the panel included Jeffrey Kadragich, Managing Director of Project Risk Management, MARSH USA, Inc.; Alan I. Lamer, Staff Attorney, American International Group, Inc.; Carlton T. Spiller, Partner and Chair, Insurance Practice Group, Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP; and Vanessa R. Yacola, Product Development Consultant, Zurich North America. Dennis A. Estis, Partner and Chair of the firm's Construction Practice Group, served as moderator.
Mr. Estis has been named President of the Board of Trustees of New Jersey's The Discovery Orchestra and was inducted into the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA) at the LCA's Spring Conference and Induction of Fellows in New York.
Raymond M. Brown was named one of the Top Fifteen Black White-Collar Criminal Defense Attorneys by Corporate Crime Reporter. The New Jersey Network Public television program "Due Process," which is hosted by Mr. Brown, received the 2007 Deadline Club Award in the Television category for Feature Reporting.
Alan S. Naar was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court's Bench-Bar-Media Committee.
Barry S. Goodman was elected President of the Interest on Lawyers' Trust Accounts Fund of New Jersey and was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court Professional Responsibility Rules Committee. Mr. Goodman was presented with the Rutgers University Alumni Meritorious Service Award on September 15. On October 27, Mr. Goodman was a panelist at the seminar, "Weather Change in Case Law," at the Community Associations Institute - New Jersey Chapter's Annual Conference and Expo.
Thomas J. Denitzio, Jr. was installed as the Second Vice President of the Middlesex County Bar Association (MCBA) at the organization's Annual Installation of Officers and Trustees Dinner on May 23.
Michael K. Feinberg was installed as co-chair of the Elder Law Committee of the MCBA. Mr. Feinberg presented the seminar entitled "Estate Administration Procedures: Why Each Step is Important" at a program held by the National Business Institute on June 25.
Robert S. Goldsmith spoke to the League of Women Voters on the topic of eminent domain on April 30. Mr. Goldsmith presented on Transit-Oriented Redevelopment at the Land Use Institute Panel on May 2 and also participated in a panel presentation to Leadership New Jersey and Leadership Newark on the role of the state and economic development on May 15. In addition, Mr. Goldsmith presented at the 2007 Annual Historic Preservation Conference on May 23, as well as at the Downtown New Jersey 2007 Conference on "Planning Today for a Successful Tomorrow" on June 15. Mr. Goldsmith also spoke at an Eminent Domain Seminar for the Institute for Continuing Education on September 24 and at the International Council of Shopping Center's New Jersey Alliance program on October 29.
Mr. Goldsmith and Meryl A.G. Gonchar were two of the 29 attorneys selected for inclusion in the "Meet the Real Estate Lawyers" feature of Real Estate New Jersey magazine's April 2007 issue.
Ms. Gonchar was also elected to the American College of Real Estate Attorneys and appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association's Long-Term Planning Committee.
John D. North has been named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America. Mr. North was also named a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Thomas C. Senter was inducted into The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel at the 7th Annual Induction Dinner in Washington, D.C.
W. Raymond Felton presented a seminar on mergers and acquisitions for the Institute on Continuing Legal Education on March 9.
Christine F. Li was a panel member at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) seminar, "How to Make Rain (That Stays on Your Plain)" on April 14 in Atlantic City.
Andrea J. Sullivan was installed as President of the Middlesex County Bar Foundation at the Foundation's Annual Dinner on May 15. Ms. Sullivan was sworn in as a trustee of the MCBA and as the Vice Chair of the Equity Jurisprudence Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA).
Dina M. Vanides was appointed to the ECBA Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee for a three-year term.
Jeffrey A. Sirot was installed as Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the ECBA.
Stacy M. Manobianca has recently been appointed as Director of Membership and Recruitment of the Young Lawyers Section of the ECBA.
Steven Nudelman received the 2006 APEX Award for Publication Excellence in Feature Series Writing for his three-part article entitled "A Primer on Liability for Plumbing Professionals," which was published in the March/April 2005, July/August 2005, January/February 2006 issues of Plumbing Systems and Design. Mr. Nudelman presented the CLE seminar entitled "Construction Law for New Jersey Engineers and Architects" on March 29 and also served as a panelist at the Young Lawyers Forum sponsored by the NJSBA's Young Lawyers Division on May 24 at the New Jersey Law Center.
Hany A. Mawla was appointed to New Jersey Civil Rights Commission, of the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Law and Public Safety.
Marina Solo was selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Law Journal's Top "40 Under 40."
Robert Beckelman presented at a June 7 seminar sponsored by the Rutgers University Center for Government Services on the use of redevelopment and eminent domain.
Joanne Vos accepted the Defense Research Institute State and Local Defense Organization (SLDO) Diversity Award on behalf of the New Jersey Defense Association (NJDA). The Award was presented at the DRI Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., in October. The award honors the SLDO that demonstrates a significant commitment to diversity. Ms. Vos chaired the Diversity Committee for the NJDA from its inception through this year, and it is her commitment to diversity that led to the NJDA being selected for this prestigious award.
