29 GRSD Attorneys Honored by Legal Directories

One reliable indicator of the professional standing of a lawyer is the esteem in which he or she is held by other lawyers, which translates into a selection to a listing in legal directories such as The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers U.S.A. Directory of Leading Business Lawyers, N.J. Super Lawyers, the International Who's Who of Commercial Litigation and the International Who's Who of Business Lawyers. Each of the directories chooses honorees by polling other lawyers; the total number of lawyers selected in a directory can represent as small a segment as 5% of the profession.

In 2007, 29 lawyers at GRSD, which represents 55% of the firm's partners and one Of Counsel, garnered a total of 51 directory listings. Of note, in Best Lawyers, the Real Estate Department was rated number one in New Jersey, with nine real estate lawyers selected.

In Martindale-Hubbell, one of the oldest legal directories in America, a total of 43 lawyers received the highest peer rating, "AV."

A final indication of substantive expertise is the election of a lawyer to the college or academy in his or her field of practice. In the American College of Trial Attorneys are: Paul A. Rowe, who is also a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Attorneys; John D. North; and Raymond M. Brown, who is also a fellow of the American Board of Criminal Attorneys. Wendell A. Smith and Dennis A. Estis are members of the College of Community Association Lawyers. Dennis A. Estis and John D. North are fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America. Michael A. Backer, Martin L. Lepelstat and Michael K. Feinberg are members of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; Feinberg is also a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Thomas C. Senter is a fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. Finally, six real estate attorneys, more than any other firm in the state, are members of American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Those attorneys are: Robert S. Greenbaum, Wendell A. Smith, Martin E. Dollinger, Robert C. Schachter, Christine F. Li and Meryl A. G. Gonchar.
