Highlights

Monmouth University recently established a capital campaign to underwrite the Arthur and Dorothy Greenbaum Endowed Chair in Real Estate Policy to recognize the Greenbaums for their unwavering support of the University’s Kislak Real Estate Institute. A reception was held in their honor on September 27 at the University.



Paul A. Rowe moderated NJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s “How to Handle Major Matrimonial Cases” on March 15.



Martin E. Dollinger and Thomas J. Deniztio, Jr. were selected for Real Estate New Jersey magazine’s “Meet the Lawyers” section in the April 2008 issue. 



Mr. Denitzio presented “Recent Developments in New Jersey Real Estate Law,” hosted by the Middlesex County Bar Association (MCBA) on January 30.  Mr. Denitzio is Co-Chair of the Real Estate Committee of the MCBA.



Lawrence P. Maher spoke on a panel about his experience with real estate transactions, bankruptcy, foreclosure and the lenders' point of view on short sales as an alternative to those remedies on November 8 at an event sponsored by the Middlesex County Board of REALTORS® at the Pines Manor in Edison.



Construction Publications, Inc. has released the 2008 New Jersey chapter update of its on-line treatise, Lien Law Online, co-authored by Dennis A. Estis and Steven Nudelman.



Kenneth T. Bills taught the NJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) Skills and Methods section on Real Estate Closings in January. He also presented at the ICLE Real Estate Conference on March 19.





On March 6 the firm co-sponsored a redevelopment conference with McGraw Hill Construction entitled, “Development and Redevelopment Opportunities & Solutions in New Jersey.” Partner Robert S. Goldsmith served as moderator. Caren S. Franzini, CEO, NJ Economic Development Authority delivered the keynote speech. There were two panels:

Mr. Goldsmith received the 2007 President’s Award for Distinguished Leadership in Planning from the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association (NJ-APA) at the Association’s Annual Awards Luncheon on November 2.  Mr. Goldsmith also spoke on the panel, “Form-Based Zoning and Land Use Regulatory Reform: Coming to New Jersey?” at the NJ-APA’s Annual New Jersey Planning Conference on November 2.  Mr. Goldsmith currently serves on a community revitalization subcommittee of the Housing Policy Task Force for the Department of Community Affairs. Mr. Goldsmith was a member of the panel, “Land and Power: The Impact of Eminent Domain in Urban Communities” at a November 9, 2007 symposium co-hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Institute for Urban Research and the Policy Research Institute for the Region at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Mr. Goldsmith presented at the workshop, “Downtown Revitalization in Tight Economic Times” and participated in the panel, “Recent Developments in Eminent Domain Law” at the New Jersey State League of Municipalities Conference held in Atlantic City November 14-16.  Mr. Goldsmith was on the panel, “The Role of Parking in Redevelopment” at the New Jersey Future Redevelopment Forum 2008 on February 29. 



Michael K. Feinberg
lectured on March 19th to the Greater Middlesex/Somerset Estate Planning Council on "Update on Elder Law and Long Term Care Planning."



Meryl A.G. Gonchar
was selected for the 2008 NJBIZ Best 50 Women in Business, was honored, along with the other winners, at a dinner on March 31, and was featured in a supplement in the April 7 edition of NJBIZ.



Galit Kierkut
was appointed to the Essex County Bar Association’s Task Force on Women in the Profession.



Peter D. Crawford, Jr. published an article entitled, “Disclaimer QTIP Trusts” in Trusts & Estates (September 2007).



Hany A. Mawla and Daniel M. Serviss were sworn in as members of the United States Supreme Court Bar on March 25. Marc Gross was movant.



Mr. Mawla and Michael G. D’Alba were presenters at the seminar, “2008 Litigation Forum For Paralegals,” hosted by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education On April 4.



Robert Beckelman
was a panelist at the NJ Institute for Continuing Legal Education 2008 Redevelopment Law Institute Seminar on January 25 held at the Law Center in New Brunswick. Mr. Beckelman was a guest speaker for NJIT School of Architecture graduate class on February 6 where he discussed financing issues in redevelopment projects.



Joanne Vos has been appointed Chair of the Environmental Law Committee for the NJ Defense Association. Ms. Vos published an article in New Jersey Law Journal on November 9, 2007 entitled “New Notification Requirements Onerous.”



The Greenbaum Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) hosted an event on January 23 entitled, “Understanding How General Counsels Select Their Attorneys.” Guest speakers included Lucinda Long, Esq., Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Valley National Bank, and Steven P. Sokolow, Esq., Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Litigation, Novartis Corporation. WLF also hosted an event of the New Jersey Women Lawyers Association on February 13 entitled, “How to Become a Judge”.
